APHA 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting and Expo, Oct. 24-28, Creating the Healthiest Nation: Preventing ViolenceAfter careful consideration of the health risks posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the APHA 2020 Annual Meeting and Expo is going virtual.

Previously scheduled to gather in San Francisco, the world’s largest gathering of pubic health professionals will still convene Oct. 24-28, but the meeting will be entirely online. While the in-person event will certainly be missed, the shift online also means more people than ever can access the full APHA Annual Meeting at a time when the world needs public health more than ever.

“The APHA Annual Meeting theme, ‘Creating the Healthiest Nation: Preventing Violence,’ has never been more timely,” said APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin, MD, in a letter to members announcing the virtual shift.

“Preventing violence requires national leadership, and APHA will play a significant role as we work toward this goal. We must intensify our advocacy to make social justice a reality. This fall is our opportunity to come together to change our world for the better.”

APHA 2020 Virtual will still give attendees a chance to learn about the latest public health science and practice, engage with colleagues from around the world, earn continuing education credits, and organize for a healthier, more equitable world. APHA 2020 Virtual will also offer:

Increased flexibility: Registrants will have 24/7 online access to all of the meeting’s scientific sessions — live or recorded — and can view them as many times as they’d like during or after the meeting.

Real-time interactions: Attendees will be able to connect with each other, as well as with meeting presenters and exhibitors via live chats and online messaging.

Savings: Registrants can attend this year’s full APHA Annual Meeting without the added expense of travel and lodging.

Registration for APHA 2020 Virtual opens July 7. For more information and updates, visit the APHA Annual Meeting page.
