APHA 2020 has officially begun! And while we’re virtual, there are still a ton of Networking & Engagement activities happening throughout the meeting to help you connect with colleagues and meet new ones. Space may be limited, so make sure you add these events to your schedule today.

Here’s a sneak peek of ways to connect:

Mix and Mingle Lounge
This virtual lounge is the perfect place for networking and decompressing between scientific sessions and business meetings. Participate in morning chats, speed networking, public health trivia and art projects. Check session descriptions to gather your supplies before the event, or simply join the discussions! All Mix and Mingle activities are designed to give you a fun, engaging break while making new connections and meeting new friends.

Geeks Meet
Are you a public health nerd like us? Check out these post-session discussions and in-depth conversations about important health issues. Led by APHA leaders, topics will include climate change, COVID-19, violence prevention, aging and much more. Geeks Meet sessions, which are listed throughout the online program, allow you to actively participate in critical conversations, just like in person.

Social Media Lab
Managing social media can be overwhelming, especially for newcomers. At APHA’s Social Media Lab sessions, sponsored by John Snow Inc., learn the latest trends and best practices in social media, how to use the tools to effectively promote health and prevention, and how to manage your social media presence in just a couple hours a week. These sessions will be full of valuable information for both the social media novice and expert.

Today’s events include two Author Meet and Greets hosted by APHA Press, one with editors of the “Control of Communicable Diseases Manual” series and another with editors Linda Degutis And Howard Spivak, who will chat about their upcoming gun violence prevention book.
